Performance Standard 3: Instructional Delivery The
teacher effectively engages students in learning by using a variety of
instructional strategies in order to meet individual needs. The artifacts for Instructional delivery show examples of in class activities my students have done. Each of these evidences are student work samples. Artifact 1 is an example of presentation of research done by one of my students on M&Ms for Statistics class. Students were asked to research the history of M&M candies including percent composition for each color. Experiments were conducted to compare the expected probabilities with actual probabilities. This activity emphasized the concepts of empirical and theoretical probabilities. Artifact 2 is a mathematical analysis of Numb3rs episode 211 “Scorched”. The episode analysis includes three parts. Students must summarize the episode, describe statistical techniques used by the investigators and mathematicians, and explain how the statistical techniques were used to solve the case. In this particular episode, the investigator uses data analysis to summarize a large amount of data, and linear regression to find a trend in the data. |
